🌿 Lake County Master Gardener Demonstration Gardens

🪴 Growing Community Through Education and Inspiration

🪴 Growing Community Through Education and Inspiration

🪴 Growing Community Through Education and Inspiration

The Lake County Master Gardeners are developing new Demonstration Gardens at the Purdue Extension in Crown Point — a space designed to inspire, educate, and serve our community. These gardens will showcase sustainable and pollinator-friendly practices, accessible garden design, and practical ideas that anyone can apply at home.

This project represents our mission in action: Helping Others Grow. Through hands-on learning and year-round engagement, the Demonstration Gardens will become a living classroom where gardeners of all ages can explore, discover, and connect.

🌼 Supported by Our Community

🪴 Growing Community Through Education and Inspiration

We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community partners who are helping this vision take root.

Support for the Demonstration Gardens has come from NiSource, Gather and Grow, LLC, and the Crown Point Community Foundation — whose collective contributions are helping fund the design, infrastructure, and planting phases of the project.

💚 Thank you to these organizations for investing in education, sustainability, and community growth in Lake County.

🌱 What’s Coming

The Demonstration Gardens will feature several themed areas designed and maintained by Master Gardener volunteers, including:

  • Native and Pollinator Gardens – highlighting the importance of native plants in supporting pollinators and biodiversity.
  • Vegetable and Donation Gardens – modeling sustainable food production and supporting local food pantries.
  • Accessible & Raised Beds – showcasing designs for gardeners of all abilities.
  • Composting & Soil Health Zones – teaching soil-building and waste reduction practices.
  • Educational Signage & Tours – providing opportunities for self-guided learning and community programs.up.

🌻 Follow Our Progress

Planning and groundwork are now underway! As the project develops, we’ll share photos, design updates, and opportunities for volunteers to get involved.

Stay tuned as we work together to grow a space that educates, inspires, and connects — right here in Lake County.
